Level 1
The fist one-thousand word list contains words which English young learners likely use in their daily life. The words are words which show the concrete objects which they see or use around their house or school, the description of the objects, the activities which they do in their daily life.

The words are words which students of the junior high schools (Grades 7 - 9) in a non-English countries need. If they know the words well, they will likeley be able to follow their English lessons at school well.

For the sake of presentation, the total number of words in the level is expanded to 1050 words. The words are organized into 15 units, or 70 words in one unit.

Level 2
The second one-thousand word list contains words which English learners in Grade 10 - 12 need to master. The words show objects in the daily life, both at home and and at school, and other places they likely go to like the market, shopping centers, and other public places. The mastery of the words will make them able to talk about the objects well and talk about the various activities they likely do.

Many words in the 2nd one thousand word list have more than one meaning. Because of that, the number of words in this level is extended to 1500. A word may be presented more than once if it has more than one meaning. The words in this level, therefore, are also organized into 15 units, or 100 words in one unit.

Level 3
The first three-thousand list presents words which college students need to master well to read academic texts and talk about academic matters. Of course, they also need to learn more words which are specific to their discipline, but with the mastery of the words in the list, they may be able to guess the meanings of words which are specific to their field which they come across in their text.

The words in the list are a must of first year students of an English departments. With a good mastery of the words, they can talk about many common topics comfortably.

For the sake of presentation and to avoid repetition (as many words are already presented in Level 1 or 2), many words in this level are not presented. The total number of words in this level is 2100. The words are organized into 15 units, or 140 words in one unit.
